The combination of phenazone and lidocaine is primarily used for the symptomatic treatment of pain and inflammation associated with ear conditions, such as acute otitis media or otitis externa. It combines an analgesic and anti-inflammatory agent (phenazone) with a local anesthetic (lidocaine) to relieve pain and reduce inflammation.

- Phenazone is an analgesic and anti-inflammatory drug from the pyrazolone class, which reduces pain and inflammation by inhibiting prostaglandin synthesis.
- Lidocaine is a local anesthetic that blocks the transmission of pain signals by inhibiting sodium channels in nerve fibers, providing rapid pain relief.

This combination is administered as ear drops, usually 2-3 times a day, as directed by a doctor. It is important to use the medication only if the eardrum is intact, as its use in cases of a perforated eardrum may lead to complications.

Side effects are rare but may include local irritation, allergic reactions, or a temporary burning sensation in the ear. In very rare cases, hypersensitivity reactions may occur.

Treatment with phenazone and lidocaine should be used as directed by a doctor, and prolonged use without medical supervision should be avoided. If symptoms persist or worsen, medical reevaluation is necessary.
