Lomefloxacin is an antibiotic from the fluoroquinolone class, used to treat bacterial infections. It is effective against a wide range of gram-negative and gram-positive bacteria and is primarily used for urinary tract infections, respiratory infections, and some skin infections.

Lomefloxacin works by inhibiting DNA gyrase and topoisomerase IV, enzymes essential for bacterial DNA replication and repair, leading to bacterial destruction. It is available in tablet form and is taken orally as directed by a doctor.

Side effects may include nausea, diarrhea, dizziness, headaches, increased sensitivity to light (photosensitivity), or, in rare cases, severe allergic reactions.
