It is indicated for the treatment of urinary tract infections (cystitis, pyelonephritis), gastrointestinal infections (such as bacterial diarrhea), and genital tract infections, including bacterial prostatitis.

It is taken orally, usually in tablet form, with the dosage and duration of treatment determined by the doctor based on the type and severity of the infection. Norfloxacin should be taken on an empty stomach with a full glass of water to ensure optimal absorption.

Common side effects include nausea, diarrhea, abdominal pain, dizziness, and headaches. It should also be used with caution in patients with a history of tendon disorders or renal impairment.
