MYDOCALM 100mg / ml solution for injection medication leaflet

M03BX04 tolperisone • Musculo-skeletal system | Muscle relaxants, centrally acting agents | Other centrally acting agents

Tolperisone is a medication used to treat muscle spasms and muscle hypertonicity associated with neurological or musculoskeletal conditions, such as multiple sclerosis, strokes, spinal cord injuries, or back pain. It is a centrally acting muscle relaxant that reduces excessive muscle tone without causing significant sedation.

Tolperisone works by inhibiting the transmission of nerve impulses in the spinal cord and improving local blood circulation, which helps reduce muscle spasms and associated pain. The medication is taken orally, usually 2-3 times per day, as directed by a doctor.

Common side effects include nausea, vomiting, abdominal pain, dizziness, and allergic reactions such as skin rashes or itching. In rare cases, severe hypersensitivity reactions may occur. Tolperisone is contraindicated in patients with myasthenia gravis (a neuromuscular disease) and should be used with caution in pregnant or breastfeeding women.
