Bifonazole is a broad-spectrum antifungal used to treat fungal skin infections such as tinea pedis (athlete's foot), tinea corporis (ringworm), tinea cruris (jock itch), and cutaneous candidiasis. It works by inhibiting the synthesis of ergosterol, an essential component of the fungal cell membrane, leading to the destruction of fungi.

Bifonazole is effective against various types of fungi, including dermatophytes, yeasts, and molds. It is available as a cream, solution, or powder and is applied topically to the affected area, usually once daily, as directed by a doctor or the product leaflet.

The medication is well-tolerated but may occasionally cause local side effects such as irritation, redness, or a burning sensation at the application site. It is important to complete the recommended treatment duration, even if symptoms disappear, to prevent recurrence of the infection.

Bifonazole is contraindicated in cases of hypersensitivity to the active substance and should be used with caution during pregnancy or breastfeeding, only under medical advice.
