MOLSIHEXAL 4mg tablets medication leaflet

C01DX12 molsidomine • Cardiovascular system | Vasodilators used in cardiac diseases | Other vasodilators used in cardiac diseases

Molsidomine is a medication used for the prevention and treatment of angina pectoris (chest pain caused by reduced blood flow to the heart). It belongs to the class of nitric oxide donors, which help relax blood vessels, reducing the workload on the heart and improving blood flow.

It is primarily used for the prevention of angina attacks but is not suitable for treating acute episodes. Molsidomine is often prescribed as maintenance therapy for patients with coronary artery disease.

Side effects may include headaches, dizziness, low blood pressure, or, more rarely, nausea. Patients should follow the prescribed dosage and avoid abrupt discontinuation of the treatment.

Molsidomine is contraindicated in cases of severe hypotension or cardiogenic shock and should be used with caution in patients with other cardiovascular conditions.
