The combination of levothyroxine and potassium iodide is used for the treatment of hypothyroidism and other thyroid conditions. Levothyroxine replaces thyroid hormones, while potassium iodide supports normal thyroid function.
The medication is taken orally, usually once daily in the morning on an empty stomach. It is important to follow the prescribed dose and avoid abrupt discontinuation of treatment.
Side effects may include palpitations, nervousness, insomnia, or diarrhea. In rare cases, allergic reactions or treatment-induced hyperthyroidism may occur.
This combination is not recommended for patients with hyperthyroidism, untreated adrenal insufficiency, or hypersensitivity to any of the components.
