Hydroxychloroquine is a medication used to treat malaria, as well as autoimmune diseases such as systemic lupus erythematosus and rheumatoid arthritis. It works by modulating the immune response and inhibiting the growth of malaria parasites.
The medication is taken orally, as directed by a doctor.
Side effects may include nausea, headache, visual disturbances, or skin rashes. In rare cases, severe adverse effects such as retinal damage or cardiac toxicity may occur.
