The combination of ornithine and aspartate is used in the treatment of liver disorders, particularly to reduce elevated blood ammonia levels (hyperammonemia) associated with acute or chronic liver failure. - Ornithine is an amino acid that stimulates the urea cycle, the process by which ammonia is detoxified and converted into urea, which is then excreted in the urine.
