Magnesium + glutamic acid + pyridoxine is a supplement combination intended to support intake of magnesium and vitamin B6. Magnesium contributes to normal muscle and nerve function, pyridoxine participates in energy and protein metabolism, and glutamic acid is an amino acid involved in metabolic processes. It is not a sedative or a treatment for severe anxiety.

It is taken by mouth according to the leaflet. The dose should be adapted to age, diet, other supplements and, when relevant, blood tests. Combining several products containing magnesium or vitamin B6 without medical advice is not recommended. If symptoms such as tiredness, cramps or irritability persist, the true cause should be looked for.

Side effects may include nausea, abdominal discomfort, diarrhoea, unpleasant taste or bloating. High magnesium doses can cause diarrhoea and, in kidney disease, accumulation with weakness, sleepiness, low blood pressure or rhythm disturbances. Chronic excess vitamin B6 can cause tingling, numbness or coordination problems.

Ask for medical advice before use if you have kidney disease, epilepsy, heart disease, chronic treatment or pregnancy. Magnesium can reduce absorption of some antibiotics, levothyroxine and bisphosphonates, so separation between doses may be needed. Contact a doctor if severe weakness, palpitations, confusion, persistent diarrhoea or neurological symptoms occur.
