Clobazam is a medication used to treat anxiety disorders and epilepsy, particularly Lennox-Gastaut syndrome. It belongs to the benzodiazepine class and works by enhancing the effect of a neurotransmitter called gamma-aminobutyric acid (GABA), which helps reduce excessive brain activity.
The medication is taken orally, usually in tablet form, and should be used as directed by your doctor. It is important not to abruptly stop the treatment, as this may lead to withdrawal symptoms.
Side effects may include drowsiness, dizziness, fatigue, or confusion. In rare cases, severe adverse effects such as respiratory depression or dependency may occur, requiring immediate medical attention.
