This medicine may cause drowsiness or reduced alertness.
Paracetamol + ascorbic acid + pheniramine is a combination used to relieve symptoms of colds, flu or rhinopharyngitis, such as fever, headache, muscle aches, runny nose, sneezing and blocked nose. Paracetamol reduces pain and fever, vitamin C provides ascorbic acid, and pheniramine is an antihistamine that helps reduce runny nose and watery eyes.
It is taken by mouth, often as powder dissolved in water or as tablets, according to the leaflet. It must not be combined with other products containing paracetamol, because overdose can cause serious liver injury. Respect the interval between doses and the maximum recommended duration. If fever lasts more than a few days or symptoms worsen, medical assessment is needed.
Side effects may include sleepiness, dizziness, dry mouth, constipation, blurred vision, nausea, rash or palpitations. Pheniramine can impair driving, and its sedative effect increases with alcohol, sleeping tablets or anxiety medicines. Caution is needed in people with glaucoma, urinary retention, enlarged prostate, liver disease or regular alcohol use.
Seek urgent medical help if yellowing of the skin, severe abdominal pain, persistent vomiting, confusion, allergic reactions, breathing difficulty or excessive sleepiness occurs. During pregnancy, breastfeeding, childhood and older age, use only with medical advice. The medicine relieves symptoms, but it does not cure the viral infection itself.
