Benzyl benzoate is a medication primarily used for the treatment of scabies and lice infestations. It acts as an antiparasitic agent, killing parasites by affecting their nervous system. It is available as a lotion or emulsion for topical application.

The medication is applied to clean, dry skin, usually in the evening, as directed by a doctor. For scabies, treatment involves applying it to the entire body, except the face and scalp, and leaving it on for 24 hours before washing it off. For lice, it is applied to the hair and scalp, followed by rinsing.

Side effects may include local irritation, burning sensation, redness, or itching, especially on sensitive or damaged skin. It is important to avoid contact with the eyes, mucous membranes, or broken skin.

Benzyl benzoate is contraindicated in infants and should be used with caution in young children, pregnant women, or breastfeeding mothers. Strict adherence to usage instructions is essential to prevent adverse reactions and ensure the effectiveness of the treatment.
