Indicated for: pain and inflammation
Substance: dexketoprofen (nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drug)
ATC: M01AE17 (Musculo-skeletal system | Antiinflammatory and antirheumatic products, non-steroids | Propionic acid derivatives)
Dexketoprofen is a nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drug (NSAID) used to treat acute pain of mild to moderate intensity. It is effective for conditions such as muscle pain, joint pain, dental pain, dysmenorrhea (menstrual pain), and other types of acute pain.
It works by inhibiting the synthesis of prostaglandins, substances involved in inflammation and pain, thereby reducing inflammation, fever, and pain. It is available in the form of tablets, granules for oral solution, or injectable solution, and its analgesic effect is rapid, usually within 30 minutes.
Side effects may include nausea, vomiting, abdominal pain, heartburn, diarrhea, or, rarely, allergic reactions and impaired kidney or liver function. Long-term use or high doses may increase the risk of gastric ulcers, gastrointestinal bleeding, or cardiovascular events.
Dexketoprofen is contraindicated in patients with NSAID allergies, active gastric ulcers, severe renal failure, liver failure, or severe heart failure. It is important to use it as directed by a healthcare provider.
