Indicated for: pain and inflammation
Substance: ibuprofen + levomenthol (nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drug + analgesic and antipyretic)
ATC: M02AX10 (Musculo-skeletal system | Topical products for joint and muscular pain | Other topical products for joint and muscular pain)
Ibuprofen and levomenthol are active ingredients used in combination, primarily in gels or creams, to treat localized pain and inflammation. This combination is commonly used for conditions such as muscle pain, sprains, strains, joint pain, or other minor soft tissue injuries.
Ibuprofen is a nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drug (NSAID) that reduces inflammation, pain, and swelling by inhibiting the synthesis of prostaglandins, substances involved in the inflammatory process. Levomenthol, also known as menthol, provides a cooling and soothing effect, helping to reduce discomfort and relax the affected area.
Although this combination is effective, its use should be approached with caution. Topical ibuprofen may cause skin irritation, and levomenthol may cause a burning or tingling sensation, especially in individuals with sensitive skin. It is important not to apply the product to open wounds, irritated skin, or mucous membranes.
This combination is available over the counter in gel or cream form, but patients should follow the usage instructions. If pain or inflammation persists for more than a few days or worsens, medical advice is necessary. Individuals with allergies to NSAIDs or menthol should avoid using this product.
