Indicated for: contraception
Route of administration: oral
Substance: estradiol + cyproterone (estrogen + antiandrogen)
ATC: G03HB01 (Genito urinary system and sex hormones | Antiandrogens | Antiandrogens and estrogens)
Estradiol and cyproterone are a combination of hormones mainly used to treat certain hormonal disorders in women, such as polycystic ovary syndrome, severe acne, or hirsutism. Estradiol is an estrogen, while cyproterone has antiandrogenic effects, reducing the impact of male hormones in the body.
It is administered as tablets, according to the doctor's instructions, usually in courses lasting several months. It is important to take the treatment regularly, at the same time each day, to achieve the desired results and reduce the risk of side effects.
Side effects may include nausea, headaches, changes in the menstrual cycle, breast tenderness, or, rarely, allergic reactions and an increased risk of thrombosis. Smoking and age over 35 can increase the risk of serious side effects.
The combination of estradiol and cyproterone is effective for controlling hormonal imbalances, but its use should be supervised by a doctor, especially if there are risk factors or other medical conditions.
