Quinidine sulfate is an antiarrhythmic medication used to treat certain types of cardiac arrhythmias, such as atrial fibrillation or ventricular tachycardia. It belongs to class I antiarrhythmics and works by blocking sodium channels in heart cells, stabilizing the heart rhythm.

Quinidine sulfate is administered orally or intravenously, depending on the severity of the arrhythmia. It is used to restore normal heart rhythm and prevent recurrence of arrhythmic episodes.

Side effects may include nausea, diarrhea, dizziness, headache, or allergic reactions. In rare cases, it can cause serious effects such as QT interval prolongation, which may lead to severe arrhythmias (torsades de pointes). It is contraindicated in patients with complete atrioventricular block, long QT syndrome, or hypersensitivity to quinidine.
