Cefazolin is a first-generation cephalosporin antibiotic used to treat bacterial infections caused by susceptible bacteria. It is commonly used for skin, soft tissue, bone, and joint infections, as well as for surgical infection prophylaxis.

The medication is administered intravenously or intramuscularly, and the dosage is adjusted based on the severity of the infection and the patient's weight. Cefazolin is effective against gram-positive bacteria and some gram-negative bacteria.
