Acetylsalicylic acid + ascorbic acid is a combination medication primarily used to relieve symptoms of colds and flu, such as fever, headaches, muscle pain, and inflammation. Acetylsalicylic acid (aspirin) has analgesic, antipyretic, and anti-inflammatory properties, while ascorbic acid (vitamin C) supports the immune system.
This combination is usually available in the form of effervescent tablets, which are dissolved in water before administration. Ascorbic acid helps compensate for vitamin C losses in the body during viral infections.
Common side effects may include gastric irritation, nausea, or heartburn, and long-term or high-dose use may increase the risk of gastrointestinal bleeding. It is contraindicated in patients with active gastric ulcers, bleeding disorders, or salicylate allergies.
Acetylsalicylic acid + ascorbic acid is not recommended for children under 16 years old due to the risk of Reye's syndrome, a rare but serious condition. Consult a doctor before use, especially if you are taking other anticoagulant or anti-inflammatory medications.
