Indicated for: inflammatory dermatoses
Route of administration: cutaneous
Substance: alclometasone (anti-inflammatory agent)
ATC: D07AB10 (Dermatologicals | Corticosteroids, plain | Corticosteroids, moderately potent (group ii))
Alclometasone is a topical corticosteroid used to treat inflammatory skin conditions such as atopic dermatitis, eczema, and psoriasis. It reduces inflammation, itching, and redness by inhibiting the local immune response.
It is available as a cream or ointment and is applied directly to the affected skin, usually twice daily, as directed by a doctor. Alclometasone is considered a low-potency corticosteroid, making it suitable for use on sensitive skin areas.
Side effects may include local irritation, dryness, or skin thinning. Long-term use or application on large areas may increase the risk of systemic effects, such as adrenal suppression.
Patients should strictly follow their doctor's recommendations and avoid excessive use. It is not indicated for bacterial, viral, or fungal skin infections without appropriate concurrent treatment.
