Indicated for: pain and inflammation
Route of administration: oral
Substance: metamizole sodium + drotaverine + caffeine (nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drug + gastrointestinal antispasmodic + analgesic and antipyretic)
ATC: N02BB52 (Nervous system | Other analgesics and antipyretics | Pyrazolones)
Metamizole sodium, drotaverine, and caffeine are used together in a combination medication to relieve moderate to severe pain, particularly pain associated with smooth muscle spasms. This combination provides analgesic, antispasmodic, and stimulant effects, and is indicated for conditions such as renal, biliary, or intestinal colic, menstrual pain, and other types of spastic pain.
- Metamizole sodium is an analgesic and antipyretic that reduces pain and fever, with mild anti-inflammatory properties.
- Drotaverine is an antispasmodic that relaxes smooth muscles, relieving spasms and associated discomfort.
- Caffeine acts as a central nervous system stimulant, enhancing the analgesic effect of metamizole and reducing fatigue.
Side effects may include nausea, dizziness, allergic reactions, low blood pressure, or, rarely, agranulocytosis (a severe decrease in white blood cells). It is important to use this medication as directed by a healthcare provider, and patients with liver, kidney, or cardiovascular conditions should be closely monitored. Long-term use or high doses should be avoided.
