Finasteride is a medication used to treat benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH) and androgenetic alopecia (male pattern hair loss). - In benign prostatic hyperplasia, finasteride helps reduce the size of the prostate, improving urinary symptoms such as difficulty urinating or frequent urination, and may lower the risk of acute urinary retention or the need for surgery.
