Indicated for: bacterial infections
Route of administration: infusion
Substance: daptomycin (antibacterial antibiotic)
ATC: J01XX09 (Antiinfectives for systemic use | Other antibacterials)
Daptomycinum is an antibiotic used for the treatment of serious bacterial infections caused by Gram-positive bacteria, including skin infections, soft tissue infections, and bacteremia. It works by disrupting the bacterial cell membrane, leading to cell death.
The medication is administered intravenously and is particularly indicated for infections caused by resistant bacteria, such as methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA). It is effective in treating complicated infections.
Side effects may include muscle pain, nausea, diarrhea, and, in rare cases, rhabdomyolysis. Monitoring kidney function and creatine kinase levels during treatment is essential.
Consult your doctor before use, especially if you have kidney conditions or are taking other medications. Use Daptomycinum as directed to ensure treatment effectiveness.
