Pristinamycin is a natural antibiotic from the streptogramin class, used to treat bacterial infections caused by Gram-positive bacteria, including strains resistant to other antibiotics, such as methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA). It works by inhibiting bacterial protein synthesis, with a bacteriostatic or bactericidal effect depending on the concentration and type of bacteria.

It is indicated for the treatment of skin and soft tissue infections, respiratory infections, and other infections caused by susceptible bacteria. Pristinamycin is administered orally, usually 2-3 times a day, as directed by a doctor.

Common side effects include nausea, diarrhea, abdominal pain, and mild allergic reactions such as skin rashes. Rarely, severe allergic reactions or liver disorders may occur, requiring medical monitoring.

Pristinamycin should be used as prescribed by a doctor, and patients must complete the full course of treatment to prevent the development of bacterial resistance.
